You know that your life is bigger than you.
We are committed to the flourishing of Oakland not only spiritually, but also physically and materially. When God became Human in Jesus and was raised bodily from the dead, he was making a definitive statement that he is committed to our restoration, both body and soul.
We are pursuing his vision in a number of ways.
Siafu Men's Leadership Home
The Siafu House is a leadership home for men coming back to our community from San Quentin prison. These men have gone through some theological education inside, and now they're continuing their education through an internship and mentoring at Tapestry Church!
We are welcoming these brothers into our lives, and renovating this home so that they have a fresh house for a fresh start. In two years, our hope is that they will be equipped to plant new churches in our community. This is our way of disrupting the school-to-prison-back-to-prison pipeline and empowering people to make a difference.
We often have work days, in collaboration with Project Peace, to continue creating a home that our brothers can be proud to live in. And we always need more help!
Micro Ministry Grants
Our goal at Tapestry Church is to unleash and equip the passions, callings, and gifts of Tapestry Church members to serve the needs of the people of Oakland. That's why we have Micro Ministry Grants.
How does it work?
Create an idea, partner with at least two other Tapestry folks, apply for resources, serve your neighbors, and tell the story of how God showed up in your ministry.
It's that simple, and--we hope--revolutionary.
Books and breakfast
The summer can be a hard time for families. When school is out, the grocery budget goes up, and the kids need somewhere to go and something to learn.
That’s why we are hosting Books & Breakfast every Saturday in July, from 9am-12pm at Learning Without Limits school.
Every family gets a free breakfast. Every child gets a free book. Everyone gets a safe, fun place to hang and learn together.
